Makeup artist praised for how perfectly she covers up acne
A makeup artist on TikTok has shared a must-see hack to ‘perfectly’ cover up acne.
Mikayla Nogueira, from Massachusetts, has over 13.4 million followers on TikTok, where she shares her cosmetic tips with the world.
The 24-year-old struggles with acne, and in one of her latest uploads, she explained her ‘sticky method’ and how it helps her hide her acne.

‘Here’s how to perfectly cover acne using the sticky method,’ she begins.
“We’re going to make these [blemishes] look like they don’t even exist on the face.
“It’s called the sticky method because our face is about to get really sticky.”
The key behind Mikayla’s method is using priming products that will make the skin ‘tacky’. This will then help your concealer adhere to the skin to ensure that you have full coverage throughout the day.
She begins the tutorial by using a hydrating serum that will leave a ‘tacky’ layer on her skin.
She uses the Glow Recipe Plum Plump Hyaluronic Acid Serum, however, according to Mikayla, you can use ‘any serum that leaves the face feeling a little bit tacky after it’s applied is going to work out… any serum that gives a tacky, sticky finish’.
“’Let that dry. See there’s a little bit of tackiness when I touch my skin,” she adds.
Step two involves a ‘gripping’ primer, such as the E.l.f. Power Grip primer, which is her top choice.
Primer is an important part of any makeup tutorial as it helps protect the skin from ingredients in the makeup and acts as a base to help your foundation, blush, and eye makeup stay in place.
There are ‘tons and tons of gripping primers out there,’ the beauty pro adds, but she says that the E.l.f. product is one of the best.
“After we’ve done this, our face is going to be very, very tacky and that is what we need, because that is going to adhere our matte concealer like glue,” she explains.
Mikayla then moves onto a matte concealer for step three, which she says is the best kind of product for her ‘sticky method’ because ‘it’s going to have a higher chance of drying down,’ compared to a hydrating concealer.
While applying her Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer to each pimple with a brush, Mikayla shares: “We are going to take care of every single one of these blemishes.
“I highly recommend using a concealer brush. Take a decent amount of concealer on your brush and you’re going to put it right on top of the blemish. We’re going to do this for the entire face wherever it’s needed”.
Don’t forget to let your concealer dry for two minutes, Mikayla notes.
For step five, she adds her foundation on top of her unblended concealer with a sponge or beauty blender. “I highly recommend using a sponge for application, that is going to make sure it doesn’t interrupt the dried down concealer underneath”.
The sixth and final step once the foundation has been applied is to continue with the rest of your makeup routine as normal.
“The amount of people that didn’t even realise I had acne because of this method,” she quipped at the end of the video.
We are totally trying this.
